Living Soils Fertilizer - Frass - Organic fertilizer composed of a mixture of insects
Living Soils Frass is an organic fertilizer made from a mixture of insects. Unlike bat guano or wormcasts, the mixture comes entirely from herbivorous insects (in this case the mealworm or Tenebrio Molitor); that means you are essentially feeding the plants other insect digested plants, a plant fertilizer full of microbial life plus chitin!
Unlike other "certified" blends (where insects are bred for the reptile and pet industry), you won't find any residue of pupative inhibitors and / or growth hormones in our mix. If you look closely, you can see that our blend sometimes contains small mealworm exoskeletons. Proof of a truly organic product.
The importance of Chitin
Chitin is a naturally occurring molecule found in the shells of crustaceans such as lobsters and crabs, as well as in the exoskeletons of insects, in this case the mealworm. Chitin triggers your plants' immune system by causing them to spin around and defend against predators such as root-feeding nematodes and disease pathogens in the soil.
Advantages of using this organic fertilizer
Since the insect mixture is made entirely of digested plants, it is full of the nutrients that plants require to grow robustly. In addition, millions of beneficial microbes emerge from the insects' guts.
Nutrient analysis
- Total nitrogen (N): 2.0%
- Phosphorus (P): 3.0%
- Potassium (K): 2.0%
How to use organic fertilizer
Use it together with our other vegetative products such as Grow or Grow AUTO. Add it to the top of the growing medium and wet well with water after application.
Suggested dosage
Soil: Up to 1 tablespoon per 4 liters of substrate every 2 weeks through the vegetative stage. Coconut: Double the amount of soil.
Note: We do not recommend adding this product for automatic varieties with a short vegetative phase or during flowering as we believe it will affect the flowering potential of the plant.
